TLC, The Transitional Living Center, a private, non-profit Manchester institution since 1981, is looking for volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors. TLC is a residential facility for Manchester children and youth who, through no fault of their own, cannot live at home. At TLC they can stay in school while living in a safe, stable environment until their family can be reunited.

As a member of the Board of Directors you can have a positive impact on the lives of young people who are functioning in school, but need the support of a residence where they will be cared for, counseled in good behavior and allowed to reach their potential. The board meets once a month on the third Thursday of the month at 4:30.  The meetings are virtual at this time but will change to in-person when possible.

To find out more please contact our  Board President, Marie Michael-Rogers at b11mmich@mpspride.org

Mission:

At TLC Foundation Inc, our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing home environment to adolescents who cannot stay at home due to family disruption, parent-child conflict or the lack of a suitable home environment.

TLC House is centrally located in Manchester, CT.

Convenient to Manchester Board of Education, the Town of Manchester Recreation Department, recreational fields, pool and programs, the Board of Education, shopping and bus transportation stops.

Our History:

TLC has been in operation since April, 1987. TLC has helped 173 students since then. In 2020 we have had 5 total residents so far and as of December there are 3 residents in the home. Some residents return to their own families, some are discharged to independent living and others remain at TLC through high school and the first couple of years of college and are given assistance with college and/ or work plans. TLC was the 1990 Connecticut Youth Service Association Program of the year. TLC is the quiet gem and success story that could only have happened because of the support of Town of Manchester and the belief of its Board of Education.

Regardless of how long a child stays at TLC, we provide a safe home while allowing them to continue with their education and thrive in the community.
